形態特徵

• Large Evergreen trees to 60 cm across: branchlets stout, grayish, subglabrous, angulate.
• Leaves alternate, chartaceous, ovate-oblong to obovate-lanceolate, 20-46 cm long, 7-15 cm broad, entire, acute to obtuse at apex, acute at base, slightly puberulent when young, becoming glabrous on both surfaces except on veins, green above, grayish-green beneath when fresh, deep brown above, gray beneath when dry, midrib slightly elevated above, elevated beneath, lateral veins 15-20 pairs, slightly elevated above, elevated beneath, veinlets indistinct on both surfaces; petioles stout, ca. 1.5-2.5 cm long, gray beneath when young.
• Inflorescences cymose or racemose umbels, axillary; peduncles 1-1.5 cm long, very rough, gray tomentose; staminate umbels 7-9-flowered; involucral bracts 4 or 5, broadly obovate to elliptic, 1 cm long, concave, gray tomentose outside, obtuse or rounded at apex; pedicels 3 mm long; receptacle 2 mm long, turbinate, hairy inside; tepals 6, subequal, oblong to lanceolate, ca. 4 mm long, 1.2 mm broad, obtuse at apex, hirsute outside, glabrous inside; fertile stamens 12, 1st and 2nd whorles of stamens glabrous, 2.5 mm long, eglandular, glabrous, 3rd and 4th whorles of stamens shorter, glandular, glands obovate, stipitate, glabrous; pistillodes 3 mm long; anthers 4-celled; ovary ovoid, style 1.8 mm long.
• Berry compressed globose, 1.8-2.4 cm long, 2.2-3 cm across, very large, from white to deep red; receptacles 1.7 cm long, 1.7-2 cm across; peduncles 3.5-5 cm long, 3 mm across; pedicels 1-1.5 cm long, 3 mm across; seed 1.

物候

flowering March to April; maturing August to September.

分布

• 台灣 : known only from Lanyu Is. Cultivated in Fushing park, Peitou near Taipei.
• 世界 : The Philippines, Malay Peninsula and Java.
